INTERNET SUPPORT
The term “IT” has now become quite a large umbrella and covers many different aspects.
To include a few:
Cloud Computing and storage, databases, operating systems, applications, networks, telecommunications, security and internet.
As part of our “IT Support” we also offer advice and assistance when it comes to home broadband.
When you first experience a problem with your line or your internet isn’t working, you would typically contact your provider who will go though some basic troubleshooting. Which, majority of time is them reading from a script with no technical knowledge of what the problem may be. They will then proceed to book an engineer visit but always include the phrase “if it does turn out to be your equipment then there will be a charge for the visit added to your account”.
To date I believe the charge is over £100 but you are in a stalemate situation as your services aren’t working and you aren’t sure how else to proceed without accepting these terms.
This is where Col-Tech can help and attend the property to carry out the basic troubleshooting for you at a much cheaper rate to give you the reassurance that when the engineer attends his visit, you won’t receive a nasty shock on your next bill.
We have 23 years telephony experience offering support to customers right back from the days of dial up internet to modern technologies including FTTH, FTTC, ADSL 2+ LLU and SOGEA.

Telecoms
There is a large growth in the demand of telecommunication at the moment.
Both business and residential customers are being warned that by the year 2025, OpenReach who provide 99% of the telephony infrastructure in the UK has declared that they will be cutting off analogue lines.
What does that mean to you as a customer?
It means that at the moment if you have FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet) or ADSL which typically residential customers do as well as some smaller companies, they are going to want to change the service they provide to you.
Why?
Because copper lines can only carry so much data and if they can remove the voice signal on the line, they are use that part to increase the internet speed that goes into your property.
Value
Due to the way we set up VoIP systems and that they aren't restricted to a specific region, you will typically find that there is a cost saving to be made on outgoing calls as well as including additional functionality to your phone system
But what if we still make and receive calls to our landline?
Then you will have your number ported to the cloud. You can still keep your existing telephone number, but the call will be managed by a system called a PBX (Private Branch Exchange). All of the above has some very fancy names such as VoIP (Voice over IP) or unified communications etc. You may find that you are already using some of these services already when you are using software on your computer or mobile phone such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger.
Why the rush?
Although technology is changing and a lot of companies can hold off until nearer 2025, you must understand that their current copper lines or ISDN circuits have been around for quite some time and may start to degrade which will affect the quality of calls.
You may also find that the support that you are paying for a physical PBX is much more expensive, depending on the current call package you have, you need to evaluate your OpEx and most importantly, with a newly designed PBX, you can include additional functionality such as music on hold, IVR, Digital Receptionists, voicemail management, assign working hours, as well as taking calls on the go.
With unified communication, you can make or take calls from anywhere in the world that has internet available and at no extra cost.
We have done our homework for you and have identified that often residential users don’t often use their landline for calls as a mobile is much more convenient. Therefore, you could be saving money by moving to a SOGEA connection with can be supplied by Col-Tech Group.
For a business of any size, we also have PBX solutions for you, and we are proud to announce that we are both a 3CX and TelcoSwitch reseller.
As part of the service we deliver, we can assist you to ensure that you are getting the best pricing for your connections as well as best pricing and service for your phone systems. Starting from day one we will carry out due diligence to gain an understanding of how each department works and their requirements from a phone system.
We can then put some schematics together so you can get a physical understanding of where a call arrives, its journey through the phone system/organisation right up until completion.
Depending on your requirements, we can also integrate the PBX with certain CRM’s as well.
